Ronaldo Sets New Saudi Pro League Goal Record

Cristiano Ronaldo set a new benchmark in the Saudi Pro League, netting his 34th and 35th goals of the season during Al Nassr’s final match. “I don’t chase records; records chase me,” the 39-year-old Portuguese superstar tweeted afterward.

In Al Nassr’s 4-2 victory over Al Ittihad on Monday, Ronaldo scored during first-half stoppage time and added another goal in the 69th minute with a header, breaking the previous record of 34 goals set by Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah in the 2018-19 season.

Al Nassr had already secured a second-place finish, trailing league champions Al Hilal by 14 points.

Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December 2022, leading a wave of international talent moving to the Saudi league with lucrative deals. The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star will also compete in his 11th international tournament, representing Portugal in the upcoming Euro 2024 in Germany. He holds the record for the most international caps (206) and goals (128) in men’s football.
