The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the incumbent Governor of the state and candidate of the APC, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State, as the winner of the supplementary governorship election in the state which held on the 23rd of March.
Prof. Bello Sheu who is the Collation officer in Kano made a formal announcement that the APC candidate gathered a total vote of 1,033,695 while his counterpart from the PDP had a total of 1,024,713 votes. Prof. Bello then went on to announce that the APC candidate defeated his closest rival from the PDP with a margin of 8,982 votes.
According to Shehu, the winner was declared after the collation of result from all the affected 28 local government areas where the supplementary elections was conducted on Saturday March 23. Ganduje polled a total of 45,876 while Kabir from PDP had 10,239 votes.
Meanwhile, the state’s PDP Chairman, Alhaji Suleiman Rabiu – Bichi, has labelled the election process as shameful and has called for the cancellation of the election. He out rightly stated that the result was not acceptable.
