IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu’s health deteriorating In detention- Tochukwu Obi

Tochukwu Obi, a leading member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to release their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in line with the Appeal Court’s order.

Obi, who is a unit leader of the pro-Biafra group in Anambra zone, expressed concerns about Kanu’s deteriorating health in detention and warned that the Federal Government would be held accountable if Kanu dies in custody.

He expressed disappointment at the government’s disobedience of a valid court order to punish Kanu and IPOB.

Obi also questioned why IPOB, which has been peaceful in its agitation for Biafra, is being subjected to harsh treatment.

Obi’s concern was heightened by the alleged relocation of a tuberculosis patient to a cell near Kanu’s in the Abuja headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Kanu’s lawyer had disclosed this on Monday after a routine visit to the IPOB leader. Obi urged the government to release Kanu to save his life.

The IPOB leader was arrested in 2021 and has been detained since then, facing charges of treasonable felony.
