JAMB Pledges Free Registration and Audio Support for PLWD in 2024 UTME/DE

The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has introduced a groundbreaking initiative for Persons Living With Disability (PLWD) aiming to take the 2024/2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. The announcement came during the official launch of the registration process nationwide by JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede.

Starting today, all PLWD candidates can register at no cost, as JAMB extends its support by providing free application documents. Notably, this move is part of the commitment to inclusivity, with specific measures set in place for a seamless experience.

One notable development is the provision of audio books, an innovative step to assist blind candidates. Oloyede emphasized that these audio resources would be available in popular formats like MP3, WMV, and WMA, ensuring compatibility across various devices capable of streaming audio records. This digital adaptation, inspired by suggestions from the first National Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria, marks a significant stride toward accessibility.

Beyond blindness, JAMB recognizes and includes candidates with Down syndrome, Autism, Dyslexia disorder, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in the list of beneficiaries for free registration. This move aligns with JAMB’s commitment to creating an equal and supportive environment for all candidates pursuing higher education.
