KADUNA STATE POLICE COMMAND ARREST MAN FOR ALLEGEDLY COMMITTING BLASPHEMY AGAINST PROPHET MUHAMMAD

For allegedly committing blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed, a Kano State resident, Mubarak Bala, has reportedly been arrested by the police.

Bala’s arrest came after a group of lawyers wrote a petition against him to the Kano State Commissioner of Police.

Bala, who is the president of the Humanist Association of Nigeria, was said to have renounced Islam in 2014 and adopted atheism as his new faith.

He was said to have committed the crime punishable by death under Sharia Law in a series of Facebook posts.

Bala was said to have been arrested by the police in Kaduna State and the petition was signed by S.S Umar on behalf of the group of lawyers.

Meanwhile, members of Bala’s association are said to have called on the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to order the release of Bala from the Gbabasawa Police Station in Kaduna, where he is reportedly being held.
