Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has approved a new minimum wage of N71,000 for civil servants, effective from November. The announcement was made via his official Facebook page, where Yusuf emphasized that the move aligns with his administration’s commitment to improving the living standards of workers and promoting social justice.
The new wage policy will significantly increase the state’s financial obligations, raising monthly salary expenses by N6 billion at the state level and N7 billion for local government councils.
Additionally, the governor highlighted that the promotion of 20,737 teachers has resulted in a total salary increment of over N340 million.
Governor Yusuf also extended his appreciation to the state minimum wage implementation committee for their efforts in ensuring the successful rollout of the new policy.
