On Tuesday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State set out on a campaign tour of major markets populated by Southeast Asians.Following the public endorsement of his re-election by the Ndigbo community in the state, Sanwo-Olu visited the markets prior to Saturday’s governorship election.Sanwo-Olu received a warm welcome at an open forum held in Ojo’s Trade Fair Complex by businesspeople under the direction of the Auto Spare Parts And Machinery Dealers Association.During the open forum, the governor promised to ensure the safety of Ndigbo businesses and property in Lagos State.In addition, Sanwo-Olu met a diverse group of Igbo traders at 58 major Lagos markets.Under the direction of the Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association, the traders gave the governor’s re-election their unanimous support.The governor also talked to people selling mobile phones, computers, and other electronics at the popular Computer Village in Ikeja.Concerns about the safety of businesses and properties owned by South-East traders in Lagos prompted the engagements.Sanwo-Olu assured the Igbo traders that Lagos would continue to be a melting pot for all Nigerians, allaying their concerns.He stated that his administration would continue to promote peaceful coexistence and security among all state ethnic nationalities.“I am here on a visit of solidarity and to express my gratitude for your public endorsement of my humble self, which I believe will be reflected at the polls on Saturday with the most votes cast by members of your community.“You are not supporting us for anything; Because my team and I have worked tirelessly to improve your well-being, you believe we are deserving of this support.“Ojo will soon have a brand-new General Hospital that will cater to your requirements. You have also observed the completion of expressways and bridges along this corridor, and we have awarded a rail project that will facilitate the movement of people and goods into Okokomaiko.“The fact that Lagos is on the path to growth excites me. We can guarantee that we will not only construct the state but also a better nation for ourselves through your cooperation and peaceful coexistence,” the governor stated at the Trade Fair forum.He guaranteed the Igbo brokers of his administration’s obligation to their success, adding that the endorsement as of late gotten by the state for the improvement of Badagry Seaport was to work with financial turn of events and lift coordinated operations, particularly in the development of merchandise.Sanwo-Olu pledged his administration’s commitment to the safety and security of Lagos’ non-indigenous residents and urged Igbo traders not to believe the scaremongers who said they would be attacked because of their choices for president.We will continue to collaborate with your leadership to improve cooperation and identify areas for improvement in order to promote peace and stability. He stated, “There is no reason for any law-abiding resident to be afraid.”Chief Ngozi Emechebe, president of the ASPAMDA, said that Sanwo-Olu was “a true friend of Igbo” and that the governor had never been mean to non-Yoruba residents who lived in the state.Emechebe stated that the forum was set up to reassure the Ndigbo community of the community’s support for the governor’s reelection and that the traders would work to ensure Sanwo-Olu’s victory at their respective polling places.“Sanwo-Olu is a decent man who has shown that he loves Igbo.
