LAGOS HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY UNDER FIRE OVER IMPEACHMENT PROCESS

Reports have it that the Lagos State House of Assembly is set to hold a press conference today to address reports on its attempt to impeach Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, who has been accused of extra-budgetary spending and most of all, disloyalty to the All Progressives Congress. On Monday, 28th January 2019, the assembly had agreed to impeach the governor if he is found guilty of the aforementioned crimes.

Several protesters took to the streets on Wednesday faulting the attempted impeachment. The Lagos Liberation Movement (LLM) has vowed to resist the move by the Lagos State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Akinwunmi Ambode describing the act as an abuse of office and legislative rascality.

The Lagos Liberation Movement has only derogatory statements for the House of Assembly, saying that the house is beginning to position itself, as a clog in the wheel of progress, and have refused to appreciate the unprecedented statesman role, played by Governor Ambode in stabilizing the state, despite the reactionary manipulations against his administration.

The group also accused former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu of being behind the plot to remove Ambode.
