LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR, BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU DROPS NEW RULE LAGOSIANS SHOULD ABIDE BY TO REDUCE THE SPREAD OF THE CORONA VIRUS

The governor of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday 20th April during his state briefing on Covid 19 pandemic commends the efforts of all the stakeholders involved in the day to day activities of Lagos State just to ensure that the spread of Corona virus is curtailed in Lagos state.

Lagos State has been regarded as the epicenter of the Coronavirus in Nigeria with 376 cases recorded as at 19th April, 2020. As part of the measures to curb the spread of the Covid 19 in the Lagos State the federal government of Nigeria has declared total lockdown on Lagos State for two weeks on two occasions and other palliative measures have been put it place to ensure that the effects is reduced on the poor and vulnerable people in Lagos State and other parts of Nigeria.

As part of the efforts of the state to curtail the spread of the virus. The Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu last week announced rules to reduce the effects of the lockdown on the residents of Lagos State. Such as opening of food kitchens across the local government areas in Lagos State to feed 100,000 youths per day, release of vehicles impounded from 1 of March till April on minor offence to the owners free of charge as well as distribution of food items to the people to reduce the effects of the lockdown on Lagosian’s.

The Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced today Monday 20th April , 2020 during the press briefing that the state will from next week begin enforcement of wearing of face mask in public faces to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus among the residents of Lagos State

Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the State House, Marina, Lagos emphasized that one million of locally made face mask have been contracted to tailors and will be distributed during the week to residents of Lagos State.

The governor therefore urged the residents of Lagos State to be calm and report to sampling centers across the state for sample collections if they noticed any symptom of Covid 19.
