Liverpool eased to a 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday to reach the Champions League quarter-finals as Sadio Mane scored twice.

After a goalless first-leg draw, last season’s runners-up Liverpool were too strong for a lame Bayern, completing a clean sweep of four English teams reaching the last eight for the first time since 2008-2009.

The match ended on a slight sour note for Liverpool when full-back Andrew Robertson picked up a yellow card in stoppage time which means he will be suspended for the first leg of their quarter-final.

The Reds’ win means there will be four representatives from the Premier League in the last eight for the first time since 2009
