Man United confirm loan signing of Sabitzer Following Eriksen’s injury

Marcel Sabitzer has joined Manchester United on loan from Bayern Munich to fill in for Christian Eriksen, who has been injured.

Due to an ankle injury suffered over the weekend in the match against Reading, the Danish midfielder was informed that he would be out until April. Even though talks with Bayern started on Tuesday, United moved quickly to find a replacement. Before Sabitzer himself gave the green light for the move, the Red Devils initially fended off interest from Chelsea, who remained focused on their deal for Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez. There won’t be a buy option associated with it.

The Austrian international signed a loan agreement with the club for six months after initially announcing his interest in Erik ten Hag’s project. Sabitzer’s engine and passing range will benefit a United midfield that has been calling for reinforcements since the summer, despite Casemiro’s recent impressive performances, in addition to providing cover for the injured Eriksen. He will bring a wealth of Bundesliga experience at the age of 28, and it appears likely that he will play a significant role under Ten Hag.

Sabitzer said of his move on the day of the deadline, “Sometimes in life you have to make quick and important decisions.” I knew this opportunity was right for me when I heard about it. I am a player who competes; I want to win this season and help the club accomplish its goals. I believe I am at my best as a player and can bring a lot of energy and experience to the team. I can’t wait to get started with my new teammates and manager and show the Manchester United fans what I’m capable of.
