Manchester City and Wolves Forge Verbal Agreement Over Matheus Nunes Transfer

Manchester City and Wolves are reported to have reached a significant breakthrough in negotiations for the transfer of Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes. The Premier League champions have reportedly settled on a fee of £47 million ($60 million) to secure Nunes’ services, although the deal is yet to be formally concluded.

In a parallel arrangement, City’s 21-year-old midfielder, Tommy Doyle, is set to embark on a loan spell with Wolves, accompanied by a potential future purchase option.
The backdrop to this development includes a previous rejected bid from City for Nunes, leading the 25-year-old to abstain from Wolves’ training sessions in a strategic move to expedite a transfer during the closing days of the transfer window.

Wolves’ manager, Gary O’Neil, initially expressed his belief that Nunes would stay with the club beyond the transfer deadline, following their Tuesday victory over Blackpool in the League Cup. However, the situation has taken a rapid turn as the negotiations between the two clubs progress.

Nunes had previously etched his name in the records of the Premier League club, becoming their most expensive signing at the time after his £38 million transfer from Sporting Lisbon last year. His contributions included 34 appearances in the top-flight league during the past season, accompanied by a single goal.
