Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders suggested Phillips could fit into teams like Manchester United and possibly even Liverpool, citing his proficiency in the holding midfield role, which is highly sought after in the top-flight clubs.
Saunders noted, “That’s a sought-after position; Man United signed Casemiro to play in that holding position. He could get in Man United’s team, would he get in Liverpool’s team? Probably. I think he’s better than [Wataru] Endo when he’s playing every week.”
