Manchester United Makes a Comeback, Crushing Real Betis 4-1 in a Thrilling Match

In the first leg of their Europa League last 16 match, Manchester United defeated Real Betis 4-1 to rebound from a historic defeat by Liverpool.

Sunday’s 7-0 defeat at Anfield, United’s worst since 1931, equaled their heaviest defeat ever.
In response, Erik ten Hag used the same starting lineup, which paid off with a return to form.

United took an early lead thanks to Marcus Rashford’s 26th goal of the season, but Betis equalized unexpectedly when Ayoze Perez scored into the far corner.

When Perez’s deflected cross bounced back off the post before halftime, the visitors could even have led.

After the break, however, the difference was made by two of United’s stars, two of whom have recently come under intense criticism.

Bruno Fernandes, who Ten Hag reappointed as captain, headed Luke Shaw’s corner in before Antony’s brilliant shot into the top corner.

Six minutes before the end of the game, Wout Weghorst scored his only goal in 15 United appearances by pouncing from close range.
