Manchester United has reached an agreement with Inter Milan to acquire goalkeeper Andre Onana for a fee of approximately £47 million. The 27-year-old is scheduled for a medical examination and is expected to sign a five-year contract after meeting Inter Milan’s valuation.
Onana has already agreed to personal terms in preparation for his move to Old Trafford, where he will join the team on their pre-season tour in the United States. While United is still finalizing the payment structure with Inter, they anticipate no issues in completing the agreement by Monday, as the overall fee has already been agreed upon.
Manager Erik ten Hag specifically targeted Onana as the club’s primary transfer objective following David de Gea’s departure earlier this summer on a free transfer after serving as the team’s number one for 12 years.
Ahead of Onana’s arrival, Dean Henderson is also expected to be transferred to Nottingham Forest for a fee of approximately £20 million. Onana and ten Hag are familiar with each other’s work, having previously collaborated at the Dutch club Ajax.
The aim is for the Cameroonian goalkeeper to join his new teammates before their match against Arsenal in New York on Friday, followed by games against Wrexham, Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund in the United States. United will wrap up their pre-season preparations with matches against Lens at Old Trafford and Athletic Bilbao in Dublin.
