Manchester United striker, Edinson Cavani has been fined a sum of £100,000 and a three-match ban. The punishment is coming as a result of a comment Cavani made on Instagram.

It all started last month after the game between Manchester United and Southampton. Cavani came into the game when Manchester United was 2 nil down. He came off the bench and scored a double to help his team win 3:2. After the game, he reposted an image from a fan to his story on instagram, adding the caption “Gracias Negrito”, the phrase loosely translates to “thanks little black boy’

Cavani was quick to apologize and even went on to delete the post. However, the English FA charged him for a breach of FA rule E3 in relation to the social media post on 29th November, 2020. Cavani however admitted the charge and he will also undergo a face-to -face education.

Furthermore, the suspension means Cavani will miss friday evening match against Aston Villa, the carabao cup against Manchester City and the FA cup third round against Watford on January 9th.
