After signing a new contract on Tuesday that will extend through 2027, Luke Shaw stated that he wants to be a part of “something special” at Manchester United.
When he moved to Old Trafford from Southampton in 2014, the 27-year-old England international became the most expensive teenager in history. He has been rewarded for being a key player for Erik ten Hag during the Dutchman’s first few months in charge at Old Trafford.
Shaw, who has made 249 appearances for United, stated on the club’s website, “Nine years ago, I signed for this amazing club, and I’m thrilled to be extending my stay.”.
“Both as a person and as a player, I’ve grown tremendously since coming to Manchester all those years ago; I realize what is expected to prevail at a club like this.
“We’re toward the start of our excursion under the administrator and his instructing staff. We’ve been fruitful currently this season, yet we need significantly more. I’m going to give everything to be a part of this great opportunity to create something special.
Shaw was a member of the United team that won the League Cup in February to end a trophy drought that had lasted for six years.
With matches against Sevilla in the Europa League quarterfinals and Brighton in the FA Cup quarterfinals, the Red Devils are looking to add to their trophy cabinet.
However, they have fallen outside the top four of the Premier League after going three games without a victory.
John Murtough, United’s football director, stated: Luke has developed into one of the world’s best defenders and is a key member of the team.
He has been at the club for nearly a decade, so he knows what success looks like and how hard work, dedication, and high standards are needed to get there.
