About nine policemen have been rushed to the hospital after a clash with the Islamic Movement of Nigeria better known as ‘shiites’ in an incidence which occurred today.
The Abuja police command also confirmed that a total of 40members of the sect have been arrested and taken into custody as they failed in their attempt to invade the National Assembly.
DSP Anjuguri Manzah who made a comment on the incident on behalf of the Commissioner of police explained that the group started it’s activity peacefully before they went sour and violence was used while trying to force their way into the National Assembly. Policemen on ground, however took control of the situation using minimal force to disperse the unruly protesters.
Reports had it that some members of the sect in the course of protest shot two police officers while other officers were inflicted with different degrees of injuries.
Manzah confirmed that investigations are ongoing and he also used the medium to enjoin members of the public to go about their daily activities as normalcy has been restored.
