The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, has called on the Nigerian government to introduce a social support programme in support of herdsmen who have suffered huge losses of livestock.
The Association beged the Presidency to give palliative to its members, stating that millions of battles have been lost to banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping and climate change
The appeal was included in a communique published by MACBAN’s President, Muhammad Kiruwa and National Secretary, Baba Othman Ngelzarma after a meeting with the Chairman of its Board of Trustees (BoT), and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III.
The group pointed out that such loses had impacted herdsmen, hence the necessity for a form of palliative.
It also calls on the Federal Government to initiate social support programmes to all the impact that the huge losses of livestock had on the herders; over five million cattle have been lost as a result of banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping and climate change.
