NIGER TANKER EXPLOSION KILLS 55 PERSONS WITH 36 PEOPLE SERIOUSLY INJURED

Mohammed Bazoum who is the Niger ‘s Minister of information has confirmed that at least 55 people were killed on Monday in Niger when a tanker truck exploded near a petrol station in the capital, Niamey.

The minister disclosed via Twitter that the explosion happened as some residents were trying to siphon fuel from the tanker near the airport.

Reports has it that at least 37 people were seriously injured from the incident and taken to hospitals for treatment

President Mahamadou Issoufou has travelled to visit some of the injured in hospital. The sad accident happened on the RN1 road that links the Diori Hamani international airport to Niamey.
