As excitement grows over the critical 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying fixture, Nigeria’s Chief Coach Gernot Rohr names a 24 member Squad.
Top of the list of those invited are Alex Iwobi of England’s Arsenal FC, who scored the goal that qualified Nigeria for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and striker Ahmed Musa, who sometimes produces pleasant surprise goals. Also named are Italy-based duo of William Ekong and Ola oluwa Aina.
Noticeably missing from the list is team Captain Mikel Obi, who of late has been plagued by injuries and problems with his clubside in China.
Goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa is the only home-based professional called, illustrating the stunted growth of the clubside in Nigeria despite the large number of teams.
Venue for contest is Uyo stadium next week.
