The Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has on Sunday provided an update on COVID-19 infections.
It sated that as at Sunday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 1,636,748.
The African Union body in a statement said number of deaths had reached 39,559.
The number of people that have recovered from coronavirus was put at 1,347,199.
South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Nigeria are the most affected countries.
Southern Africa is the most affected region, while Northern Africa region is the second most affected.
World wide more than 40.2million have been infected and 1,118,000 fatalities recorded.
