The Nigerian government has revealed that petrol supply from the Dangote Refinery in Lagos will commence on September 15, following an agreement on pricing and supply terms. This announcement was made by Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service and a member of the Presidential Committee on the Sale of Crude Oil and Refined Products.
Adedeji explained that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) will act as the exclusive buyer of petrol from the refinery, while other marketers will source their supply through the NNPCL. Additionally, the NNPCL is set to begin delivering 385,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the refinery starting October 1, 2024, with payments to be made in Naira.
He also confirmed that all necessary agreements have been finalized, and the first batch of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) will be loaded from the refinery on September 15. In exchange for crude oil, the Dangote Refinery will provide petrol and diesel to the local market, with all payments settled in Naira.
As part of the broader arrangement, diesel from the Dangote Refinery will be available for sale to any interested buyer, while petrol will remain exclusive to the NNPCL, which will handle its distribution across the country.
