Nigerian Army Ready to Act if Protests Escalate- Defence Chief, Christopher Musa

On Friday, Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa assured that the Nigerian army is prepared to respond if ongoing protests intensify. Musa made this statement during an interview with journalists regarding the recent surge in violence across the country.

Since Thursday, Nigerians have been demonstrating against issues such as economic hardship, hunger, and other socio-economic challenges. Unfortunately, the protests have been marred by incidents of vandalism and looting, as hoodlums seized the opportunity to wreak havoc on people’s properties.

In response, Musa emphasized that the military remains vigilant and ready to intervene should the situation worsen. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who praised the National Council for Civil Society of Nigeria for abstaining from the protests.

Abubakar highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s various initiatives aimed at revitalizing the economy. “He has only been in office for a year and has already achieved significant progress. I am confident that these measures will soon yield positive outcomes for all Nigerians,” he stated.
