Fuel prices at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) stations have surged to over N850 per litre nationwide. Reports have it that this increase follows a directive from NNPC management, raising the official fuel price from N568 to N855 per litre.
Checks in Ilorin, Kwara State, confirmed that local NNPC stations implemented the price hike on Tuesday morning. At the Adewole Area station in Ilorin, fuel is now being sold at N877 per litre.
In Lagos, a photograph of an NNPC station also showed full compliance with the directive, with the price set at N855 per litre.
The price hike has sparked public outcry, as seen in a viral video on X, where a customer at an NNPC station in Ikoyi, Lagos State, expressed shock at the new price: “N855 at NNPC station in Ikoyi.”
