The national grid has collapsed once again, marking the 11th incident in 2024. As of Tuesday, November 7, power generation from the country’s 22 plants dropped to 0.00 megawatts, down from a peak of 3,743MW earlier in the day. This latest collapse follows 10 similar incidents since January, causing widespread outages across the country.

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) confirmed the outage, reporting a system failure at 11:29 am. IKEDC assured customers that efforts were underway in collaboration with critical stakeholders to restore supply as quickly as possible.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has yet to provide an official update on the situation, leaving many Nigerians without clear answers as they await power restoration. This recurring issue continues to affect the country’s already struggling electricity sector.
