Nigeria’s Senate has adjourned till September, following the opposition party’s (PDP) takeover of the legislative body.
On Tuesday, the ruling party (APC) suffered a major setback when 15 o their senators defected to the PDP.
The defections increased the number of PDP senators as against 51 for Buhari’s APC, with 2 seats still to be filled.
There was also a ruling party setback in the House of Representatives as 37 APC members defected to the opposition.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that there may be more defections from the ruling part to the PDP in the coming weeks.
