OBASANJO FORGIVES ATIKU, SAYS HE HAS LEARNT HIS LESSONS

The 2019 Island Club Quarterly Business Lecture held on Wednesday. At the occasion, PDP presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar delivered a lecture titled ” My vision to get Nigeria working again”. Shortly after his speech, former President Olusegun Obasanjo was invited to give a speech too, it was during his speech he made it known that the only candidate who can reposition the country is none other than Atiku Abubakar.

Obasanjo said he believed that Atiku has the experience, the capacity and drive to move the country forward. He said Nigerians should no longer find his support for the former vice president strange going by what he said or wrote about him in the past. He didn’t shy away from the things he has written about Atiku in his memoirs but he said to everyone present that Atiku has asked for forgiveness and is now a changed man.

He said, however, that the PDP candidate had demonstrated what was expected of a good and sincere leader by owing up to his past mistakes and showing remorse. Speaking further, he added that Atiku had not only apologised to his political party and the nation, but also apologised to him for the past mistakes he made as his deputy.

He did not forget mention that no man is perfect as we all are liable to make mistakes. He claims he has forgiven Atiku and is now solidly behind him to move the nation forward.

Prominent Nigerians who were present at the lecture included Senate President, Bukola Saraki, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce, PDP Chieftain, Chief Bode George, PDP Governorship candidate, Mr Jim Agbaje and Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Obasanjo commended the Island Club for providing the platform for leaders to enunciate their visions for the country through the lecture. He said the series of the Club’s lecture had helped enrich discourse on nation-building.
