Ogun State Teachers Endorse Governor Abiodun for Second Term

Ogun State members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) have joined forces to support Governor Dapo Abiodun’s bid for reelection.

Akinola Abiodun, the state chairman of the NUT, gave the endorsement during an interactive session with the governor in Abeokuta. He was happy about the government’s efforts to reposition the education sector for better performance.

Your government has raised the bar for education. We don’t care about politics, but you have our full support as our employer. He stated, “We will support and work for your return.”

However, the chairman of the NUT demanded the payment of unpaid leave bonuses, the reinstatement of teachers’ peculiar allowance, and the recruitment of additional teachers to replace retiring ones.

In addition, Mr. Adekunle Osibemiwo, president of the NAPPS chapter in Ogun State, advocated for a person with a disability to be appointed head of the Special Education Department in the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology and pledged to support the governor’s re-election campaign.

In response, Abiodun stated that his administration had constructed over 400 kilometers of road, renovated more than 100 public schools, built 1,500 affordable housing units, and is currently constructing the Agro-cargo Airport at Illisan for aircraft landing.

He praised teachers for contributing to the state’s peace by instilling the right values in their students and described them as trailblazers who nurture and raise morally upright children for society.

The governor announced the availability of brand-new automobiles for the state’s newly appointed Head-Teacher-Generals, noting that plans had been finalized to begin the Digital Lesson Plan in schools and that running costs for schools would be released immediately.
