Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun, extended warm congratulations to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on his appointment as the Transportation Minister. Expressing optimism for the state’s progress, Governor Adeleke also urged Oyetola to leverage his new role to foster growth in Osun.
“Congrats to Mr. Oyetola! We stand with him and his family in this national endeavor. As always, my hand is extended in collaboration, as we work together for our constituents’ betterment,” Governor Adeleke affirmed. He further disclosed that Osun’s support for Oyetola’s ministerial vetting echoed in their ongoing well-wishing and their prayers for a productive tenure.
Governor Adeleke also revealed an ambitious plan to refurbish the railway tracks stretching across Osun. He directed the State Commissioner for Transport to outline a comprehensive strategy for rehabilitating the railway, extending from the Ibadan terminal to the Kwara border. “With the railway now part of concurrent legislative jurisdiction, we aim to create a railway link to the national track line,” the Governor explained. “We envision shorter railroads originating from Ijeshaland and both senatorial districts, effectively connecting agricultural transport and our upcoming cargo airport.”
Intriguingly, the Governor’s team is actively exploring the concept of a circular metro railway network throughout Osun, with a firm focus on private sector participation. “Our ultimate goal is to establish Osun as an economically interlinked state,” Governor Adeleke elaborated. He extended an invitation to the new Transportation Minister to share in this grand vision, particularly due to the railway’s alignment with his portfolio. The Governor emphasized, “Osun eagerly welcomes partnerships as we work together toward this transformative aspiration.”
