The governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has called for an emergency meeting of the state security council to review ongoing operations aimed at curbing criminal activities in the state.
The meeting, scheduled for this week, was announced in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
The governor has also ordered regular patrols by a combined team of security personnel to prevent robberies and kidnappings and to reinforce the successes currently being recorded by the security agencies.
Governor Adeleke reassured residents of his administration’s commitment to ensuring the security of life and property in the state.
He added that top officials had been detailed to liaise with security agencies on anti-crime operations.
“Security agencies are re-strategising to stop any further security breaches. Be rest assured that efforts are in top gear to stop criminal infiltrators and bring them and their sponsors to book,” he said.
The governor urged residents to be security conscious and become security whistle-blowers. He advised them to report any suspicious activities and to be mindful of the timing and manner of their movements.
For now, it is advisable to avoid late night or early morning traveling, he added. “We must secure ourselves as security is everybody’s business,” Adeleke concluded.
