Over 1,200 Nigerian students in Sudan have appealed to the Nigerian government for evacuation as a military confrontation between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Force paramilitary group has claimed the lives of 330 people and injured 3,200 others. The clashes have also left many students without food, and thousands of civilians have been displaced from the capital, Khartoum. While some foreign nations, including Japan, Uganda, and Tanzania, have started evacuating their citizens, the Nigerian students are still waiting for their government to intervene. The Secretary-General of the National Association of Nigerian Students in Sudan, Adam Mohammed, confirmed that no student had been hurt, but they were experiencing food and electricity shortages and telecommunication blackouts. The students have filled out evacuation forms, and plans to evacuate them are underway.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Related
