PARIS SAINT GERMAIN CLINCH COUPE DE FRANCE TITLE AS MBAPPE SUFFERS GRUESOME INJURY THAT RULES HIM OUT OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL

Paris Saint-Germain have won the Coup de France for a 13th time but their latest triumph will feel like a defeat to some fans.

That’s because star player Kylian Mbappe was pictured on crutches having sustained a nasty injury in the first half of the final against Saint-Etienne.

The 21-year-old was hacked to the ground by Saint-Etienne centre-back Loic Perrin, sparking an almighty brawl between both sets of players on the pitch.

Perrin was sent off for the challenge following a VAR review with Mbappe appearing to be in tears as he hobbled off.

PSG were good value for their 1-0 win with Neymar’s early goal separating the two sides.

The Brazilian struck the ball in-off the bar on 14 minutes after Mbappe’s effort was saved by Jessy Moulin.

Winning the Coupe de France as well as being awarded the Ligue 1 title is standard procedure for PSG these days but the club’s obsession is to conquer Europe.

The extent of Mbappe’s injury is not yet known but being without the striker would be a big blow in their bid to win a first ever Champions League title.

The competition restarts on August 7, however, PSG are not in action until five days after where they take on Serie A high-flyers Atalanta in Lisbon.

Should PSG get through that they’ll face RB Leipzig or Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals on August 18. The final takes place on August 23.
