Strong indications suggest that several governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may be planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. This potential shift appears to be influenced by ongoing crises within the PDP, particularly involving the National Working Committee (NWC) and various state and zonal factions.

Sources reveal that some PDP governors have been engaging with President Bola Tinubu, either by visiting him in Lagos or inviting him to commission projects in their states. Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors Forum, is reportedly playing a key role in these discussions, aiming to expand APC’s influence.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, who has publicly voiced support for President Tinubu’s administration, is among those rumored to be considering a defection. Similarly, President Tinubu recently praised Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for his developmental strides, further fueling speculation of closer ties between APC and certain PDP governors.

Meanwhile, concerned PDP leaders in Delta State have urged Governor Oborevwori to address the rumors of his defection. In an open letter, they demanded clarification to alleviate concerns about their political future within the PDP, emphasizing the urgency for transparency.
