The party’s Ward Executive in Igyorov Ward of Gboko Local Government Area, LGA, in Benue State decided to suspend Dr. Ayu.
Yesterday, Ward Secretary Mr. Vangeryina Dooyum explained to the media on behalf of Kashi Philip, the Ward Chairman, that Dr. Ayu was suspended by the Executive for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities.
The Secretary read from a document signed by 12 of the 17 Ward Executive members and stated that the leadership reviewed the National Chairman’s behavior after the recent general elections and decided to suspend him.
“We observed with utmost dismay that, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the National Chairman of the PDP worked against the success of the party in Igyorov Council Ward,” the Secretary stated, flanked by the Chairman and other members.
“It is noted that he has also failed to pay his annual subscription fees in accordance with Section 8 (9) of the PDP 2017 (As Amended) constitution.
Further investigation revealed that he did not participate in the March 18, 2023 elections for governor and state assembly.
“It was also discovered that the majority of his closest allies worked for the All Progressive Congress, or APC, which contributed to the PDP’s disastrous performance in Igyorov Ward.
“Considering the previous, we thusly pass a Statement of disapproval on Dr Iyorchia Ayu and suspend him as an individual from our party with prompt impact. The suspension begins on March 24, 2023.
