Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for 2023, has donated N10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences in Adazi Nnuku, located in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra. The cheque was presented to Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, who oversees the institution.
Obi emphasized the critical role nurses play in the healthcare sector, noting the significant impact of their work. He argued that institutions dedicated to training nurses should receive more budgetary support due to their vital contribution to healthcare.
“Nurses are indispensable to our healthcare system and deserve full support,” Obi stated. “Institutions like this should receive budgetary allocations for the essential role they play in training nurses who are always on the front lines with patients. Healthcare is central to national development, and we must support our healthcare workers.”
Obi also assured the audience of his continued support, highlighting the importance of training healthcare professionals for the future. “Investing in their education today secures our future,” he added.
In response, Bishop Ezeokafor expressed gratitude for Obi’s ongoing support, which has been consistent since his tenure as governor. He assured that the donated funds would be used effectively to benefit the institution and humanity, hoping for continued support for the school.
