Nottingham Forest have named Ange Postecoglou as their new permanent manager after parting ways with Nuno Espirito Santo. A fallout with club owner Evangelos Marinakis led to Nuno’s dismissal on Tuesday morning, prompting the swift appointment of the former Tottenham boss.
Postecoglou, who has signed a two-year deal, will lead Forest for the first time this weekend against Arsenal. The Australian is bringing members of his trusted backroom staff from Spurs to help him settle quickly at the City Ground.
Forest had considered several high-profile names, including Mauricio Pochettino, Marco Silva, Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner. However, the club opted for Postecoglou, believing his track record and Premier League experience made him the right fit.
In a statement, Marinakis praised the 59-year-old, highlighting his winning mentality and vision. He said Forest must now take the next step competing with the best and pushing for trophies and Postecoglou is the man to drive that ambition.
With European football already secured, Forest see Postecoglou’s arrival as a chance to cement their place among the top sides and bring silverware back to the City Ground.
