President Muhammadu Buhari presented prestigious National Honours to President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima in a ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The event was attended by prominent members of society, including the diplomatic corps.

The investiture ceremony, currently underway, witnessed a significant turnout of guests who faced considerable challenges navigating through heavy traffic leading to the Banquet Hall.

Hundreds of attendees, including diplomatic corps representatives, patiently underwent security checks along the routes from the Federal Secretariat and Fire Service, determined to witness the historic conferment taking place in the fully packed hall.

The conferment of the GCFR and GCON National Honours upon the President-elect and Vice President-elect, respectively, along with the official Hand-over of Transition of Documents, serves as a crucial part of the inauguration events for Nigeria’s 16th Head of State.

President Buhari’s bestowal of the highest national honour, the GCFR, on his successor, and the conferment of the GCON rank, follows the longstanding tradition of honoring Nigerian presidents and vice presidents.
