Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari speaking in Abuja on Monday has said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) needed to give Nigerians a detailed explanation for its decision to postpone the February 16 general elections.

The president has called on the body responsible for holding credible elections in Nigeria to step forward and give reasons for the postponement not forgetting to name the person responsible.

He futher stated that though the Nigerian constitution and the laws protect INEC as an independent body but they should not take Nigerians for granted. He didn’t forget to mention that the National Assembly duly approved so they had little or no excuse on the preparation front, noting that INEC had all the funds it needed

The President also used the occasion to warn all political actors to ensure an environment free from intimidation and violence for all eligible citizens to cast their votes and decide who will lead them.
