Alhaji Abdulmajid Danbulki, an associate of President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in Kano, has cautioned President-elect Bola Tinubu against forming an alliance with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party.

The warning was issued by Danbulki, also known as Commander, during a news conference held in Kano on Thursday.

Danbulki’s concern arises from the reported meeting between Tinubu and Kwankwaso in Paris, France.

He emphasized that a political alliance between Tinubu and Kwankwaso would not be beneficial for the President-elect and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing the issue, Danbulki stated, “Reports reaching us indicate that Tinubu had met with Kwankwaso in Paris, France, with the alleged intention of bringing him into the APC and potentially offering ministerial and other appointments to him and his followers.”
He further warned that any such actions would prompt a negative reaction from the APC in the North.

Commander emphasized that the President-elect does not require Kwankwaso in the APC, as there are prominent party members in Kano and other parts of the North who can effectively promote his interests and those of the party in the region.

“We, as members of the APC in Kano State and the North, played a significant role in ensuring the victory of the APC and Bola Tinubu in the previous general elections. We are committed and capable enough to continue securing the party’s success in future elections,” Commander stated. Bringing Kwankwaso into the party would undermine their efforts and create discontent within the APC, he added.

He advised President-elect Tinubu to immediately halt any efforts to associate with Kwankwaso, whether it involves appointments or bringing him into the APC, for the sake of the party’s unity.

In response to the caution, Ladipo Johnson, spokesperson for Kwankwaso, dismissed the concerns of Danbulki and his allies, stating that the matter extended beyond their limited perspectives. Johnson emphasized that the final decision lies with Tinubu and Kwankwaso.
