President Bola Tinubu has replaced former Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase as Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) with Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu (Retired).
Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, announced on Monday that the president also appointed Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Retired) as a Member of the Commission. These appointments are pending Senate confirmation.
The statement indicated that additional members of the Police Service Commission will be appointed in due course. Additionally, President Tinubu has approved the immediate appointment of Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF).
President Tinubu emphasized the need for the appointees to exhibit integrity, diligence, and patriotic commitment in their roles to enhance the effectiveness of the Nigeria Police and contribute to national well-being.
