Primate Elijah Ayodele, the influential leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has issued a stern caution to President Bola Tinubu regarding the proposed N35,000 salary top-up for federal government workers. In a statement conveyed through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele expressed grave concerns that this increment could exacerbate hunger and inflation within the nation.

Describing the decision as hasty and misguided, Primate Ayodele firmly asserted that the wage increase would ultimately fail to fulfill its intended purpose. He argued that corruption would likely mar its distribution, rendering it ineffective for both the government and its workers.

“The N35,000 wage increment, in reality, amounts to added hardship. If not carefully considered, it may worsen our economic situation, leading to inflation,” warned the spiritual leader. “The government is unlikely to prevent corruption during distribution, making this advice ill-conceived.”

Primate Ayodele went on to emphasize that the government should have sought more time to devise comprehensive and sustainable economic solutions instead of hastily implementing this wage hike. He predicted that the cost of living would rise, stifling progress.

“This decision will not benefit the government or its workers. It will only exacerbate the pain they endure. The government should have taken more time to plan it meticulously, as it will inevitably result in a higher cost of living,” cautioned the cleric.

“Inevitably, prices of goods will surge, and the government should carefully reconsider its implications. From my perspective, there is no visible progress; instead, it will usher in more economic hardship,” concluded Primate Elijah Ayodele.
