In an inspiring revelation, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has offered a glimmer of hope for the Nigerian economy. Despite the recent free fall of the nation’s currency, Adeboye predicts that the naira will rediscover its lost glory and eventually surpass the United States dollar.
While the naira has faced a steady decline over the years, President Bola Tinubu’s monetary policy reforms and the nation’s forex challenges have further weakened it. Recent reports show that the naira, which had been struggling, appreciated to ₦740.38 against the dollar at the Investors and Exporters window on September 1, 2023. However, the black market rates indicate a buying rate of ₦915 and a selling rate of ₦918.
The continuous depreciation of the currency has had adverse effects on businesses and the cost of living for Nigerians, exacerbated by the removal of fuel subsidies. Nevertheless, Pastor Adeboye delivered his message of optimism during the church’s monthly Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, September 3, 2023. He reminded his congregation of a time when the naira competed favorably with the US dollar and assured them that those days would return.
“The days when Naira will be stronger will come back; those glorious days will return. When that happens, you will know,” Adeboye declared, emphasizing that miracles often involve unique and incomprehensible occurrences. He shared personal experiences of unusual testimonies, highlighting that God’s miracles can be extraordinary and challenging to explain.
