Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory against Chelsea on Tuesday sealed their place in the Champions League semi-finals with a 4-0 aggregate win, effectively ending the London club’s season.

Despite a bright start from the home team, who missed two key chances in the first half, Real Madrid punished Chelsea for their profligacy, with Rodrygo scoring in the 58th and 80th minutes.

Chelsea’s hopes of a comeback were dashed despite a number of attacking substitutions from caretaker boss Frank Lampard, who has lost all four games since returning to the club.

Real Madrid will likely face Manchester City in the semi-finals, while Chelsea’s disastrous campaign continues, with a huge spend of over £500 million ($621 million) resulting in no domestic cups and a lowly 11th place in the Premier League.
