REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD REACT TO THE DEATH OF GIRL WHO WAS RAPED AND KILLED IN A CHURCH

Nigerians were thrown into mourning when the death of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100-level microbiology student of the University of Benin was reported.

She died when she was raped on the 27th of May, 2020 at a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) near Ikpoba Hill in Benin.

Reports have it that her head was smashed with a fire extinguisher by the rapist(s) which left her unconscious while the dastard act was going on and gave up the ghost in a hospital near where the incident took place.

Meanwhile few hours after the incident was trending twitter, a tweet emerged from the verified handle of the General overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye which left many Twitter users reacting to the tweet.

The tweet read” ALL THINGS WORK FOR GOOD”

The tweet infuriated some people on tweeter and most of them expressed their anger on the seeming insensitivity of the pastor to the rape incident that occurs in one of the Church’s parish.

While some of the users were in the defence of the pastor, saying the tweet was the topic of the Sunday sermon which must have been recorded before the news of her death broke out.

Late miss Uwa reportedly went to the church to read and prepare for the opening of the school after the coronavirus induced break before she met her waterloo.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God is yet to react to officially to the incident that took place in the church as at the time of filling in this report.

The state government has called for justice for the late student and promise to conduct a thorough investigation to fish out the culprits.
