Santiago Solari has apologised to Real Madrid faithfuls following their humiliating Champions League last-16 defeat against Ajax.
Madrid were left at the mercy of Ajax at the Santiago Bernabeu, where the irresistible Dutch visitors claimed an incredible 4-1 victory in the second leg.
Yesterday’s loss was the fourth successive defeat on home soil for the Spanish giant. Under-fire Madrid head coach Solari said the exit was very painful and also used the medium to apologise to Madrid fans all around the world. He also confirmed that the team is going through turbulent times and he will do everything humanly possible to improve the results.
Madrid who were crowned Champions for three straight seasons were eliminated by Ajax in a rather undignified manner.
Solari’s position has come under threat following a difficult past week, which saw Madrid beaten twice by bitter rivals Barcelona at the Bernabeu.
Back-to-back defeats against Barca sent Madrid crashing out of the Copa del Rey semi-finals and languishing 12 points off the pace in LaLiga.
