South Africa drops all charges against Duduzane Zuma

South African prosecutors on Thursday, 24th January, have dropped all charges levelled against Duduzane Zuma, the son of former president Jacob Zuma.

Duduzane Zuma who has been charged for corrupt practices and also for conspiring to commit a corrupt act related to his dealings with the Guptas, three Indian-born brothers who were accused of using their relationship with former president Zuma to win state contracts. Duduzane was due to appear in court in 2014 when his Porsche 911 collided with a minivan taxi, claiming one life and seriously injuring another who later died in hospital.

Meanwhile, the Guptas whose location is not publicly known have denied there was anything fishy in their relationship with former president Zuma. Their bond is currently being investigated in an inquiry that could take months, or even years, to be concluded.

Cyril Ramaphosa,Jacob Zuma’s successor, has promised that his administration will have zero tolerance for corruption in the country. One way out another he is yet to leave up to the promise he made in February as his administration has let Duduzane oiiut of its claws.
