Hon. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, who is vying for the positions of Speaker and Majority Leader of the 10th House of Representatives, has stressed the importance of consultation in the selection of the National Assembly’s leadership.

In a show of support for Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, whom he described as the “Shock Absorber” of the Green Chamber, Ado-Doguwa emphasized that whoever becomes Speaker in the 10th Assembly will need Betara’s support to succeed.

Ado-Doguwa reaffirmed his interest in the Speakership position and emphasized that his candidacy is not a “do or die affair”.

He called for unity and understanding among his colleagues and stressed the importance of allowing the National Assembly to conduct its own business without external interference.

Hon. Sada Soli, the Chairman of the House Committee on Water Resources, warned that the imposition of preferred aspirants on Members-elect could undermine the integrity, fraternity, sanctity, inclusivity, and sovereignty of Parliament.

Soli emphasized the importance of fraternity among Parliamentarians and urged that the National Assembly be inclusive in its leadership selection process.
