Sports Minister Urges Super Eagles to Channel 2013 Spirit in Clash Against Cote d’Ivoire

Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, has called on the Super Eagles to revive the spirit of their 2013 triumph by securing a victory against Cote d’Ivoire in Thursday’s match. The Eagles famously defeated the Ivorian team 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2013 AFCON in South Africa.

In a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Minister of Media, Kola Daniel, Enoh urged the team to bounce back from their recent 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea by triumphing over their hosts. The minister emphasized the need for mental resilience, acknowledging the challenges posed by playing against the home team, their fans, and unpredictable weather conditions.

Enoh stated, “Thursday’s game allows us to make a statement by going ahead to feast on the elephants in their backyard. I am urging the Super Eagles to remain resolute, as we will be playing against 11 players on the pitch, the home fans, and even the weather.”

Highlighting the historical significance of defeating Cote d’Ivoire, Enoh recalled the 2013 victory, emphasizing that the upcoming match is an opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s football prowess on the continent. He expressed the unwavering support of the government and the Nigerian people for the Super Eagles, calling on each player to give their best on the field.

The minister extended well-wishes to the coaching staff, support personnel, and the entire Nigerian football community, encouraging fans to rally behind the Super Eagles and create an atmosphere of steadfast support. The clash against Cote d’Ivoire is not just a game but a chance for the team to make a lasting impression and advance to the next round.
