TERRORIST GROUP, AL-SHABAAB ATTACKS SOMALI’S CAPITAL AGAIN

Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu has seen a deadly week with concurrent attacks by insurgent group Al-Shabaab claiming the lives of about thirty people.

Their latest attack took place today and has claimed about 15 lives according to reports. The mode of their several attacks has been via the use of car bombs. In today’s explosion, a car bomb attack took place near a hotel and restaurants in a busy area targeted in the past by the militants.

The afternoon explosion sent smoke billowing into the sky and destroyed two restaurants and some cars parked in the area. The police have confirmed 11 people dead and about 16 other people injured. The police also said that the death toll could be on the rise.

From March 21 till today, car bombs and Improvised Explosive Device, IED, attacks have been a regular feature except for 22nd and 24th. 23rd saw two different attacks.

It should be recalled that on March 21, there was a car bomb that killed a civil engineer. Also on the 23rd of March the insurgents attacked a complex where they killed 15 people. On the 25th of March, a car bomb was also reported to have killed a University staff and a similar car bomb incident was also devised to kill a 14year old boy on March 26.
